RSA Online Event – Textiles: Research, Innovation and Procurement
11-05-2021
The RSA, the Royal Society for Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce, is hosting an online event ‘Textiles: Research, Innovation and Procurement’ to discuss aspects, research and progress that affects the textile sector today. Lynn Wilson FRSA, circular economy specialist and a student team she has led will be joined by Fashion-Enter Ltd’s CEO Jenny Holloway along with Sadie Dainton from the British Standards Institute.
Taking place Thursday 20th May 2021 from 11am – 12.30pm this free online event will openly discuss textile topics such as face masks, PPE textiles BSI standards, sustainability and how more action, less conversation is required.
A new era requires industry, production and distribution to operate to safeguard our planet. Is the industry measuring up? If so how? By sound research? By evidenced practice or by “greenwashing”? Companies are setting targets: do consumers want more? There are emerging coalitions and steps in the right direction (e.g. Fashion Pact, the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, Make Fashion Circular and Fashion Conveners). Jenny, Lynn and her students will outline some specifics, followed by a Q&A session.
Speakers:
