PPE – One Month On
30-04-2020
When the Covid-19 crisis hit the UK in mid-March 2020, Fashion-Enter’s factory, based in North London, saw orders drop. However the crisis presented a new opportunity to support the NHS with essential PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
In desperate need for scrub sets Fashion-Enter’s CEO Jenny Holloway took on orders from suppliers to the NHS consisting of 10,000 sets (v-neck tops and elasticated trousers) and additionally gowns. Alongside the scrubs Fashion-Enter was also contracted to make snoods that have been chemically treated for a third party client. Since the 1st April 2020 the manufacturing team have been working solidly on PPE.
Jenny Holloway comments: “I am immensely proud of each member of the team. They gave up their Easter Bank Holiday to ensure that the flow of production didn’t stop for the NHS and they have such great pride in their work and we hold the same great pride for our NHS keyworkers too. What we must ensure however that this current change in sourcing from the UK reverts back to off-shoring when the immediate crisis is over. The UK has always had a major garment manufacturing heritage and rightly so. We should all be proud to be part of the Made in the UK label.”
One month on and the factory continues to work around the clock on PPE. Fashion-Enter’s work on these essential garments has not gone unnoticed and along with various press coverage; The Daily Telegraph, BBC and The Daily Mail, Fashion-Enter recently received a generous donation of threads from Coats PLC.
Matt Neville – Director, EMEA Global Accounts Coats Plc comments:
“Coats is the world’s leading industrial thread manufacturer. Headquartered in the UK but also at home in some 50 countries where we have a workforce of 17,000 people across six continents. We have been around for over 200-years during which we have weathered many storms. We are now looking at how we can learn from and adapt to the new landscape that is emerging as a result of COVID-19.
“We work with and support over 150 UK based apparel and footwear brands with our products and services. During this challenging time, many UK based manufacturers are switching their operations to produce PPE for our NHS. Fashion-Enter / FashionCapital is one of many that Coats is supporting with thread donations, as well as technical support that may be required throughout the manufacturing process.”

“How generous was it of Coats to provide us with thread donations in support of our PPE production. It is really heart-warming in these difficult times when another business steps up to help – we really are in this together. A big thank-you to Matt, Ian and the Coats team.”
