New FTA Course to Bridge the Gap from Education to Employment

30-05-2019

The educational division of Fashion Enter – Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) has had fantastic success with both the Stitching Academy and Perfect Pattern courses at Level 1 and 2.

Year-on-year the number of learners have increased and currently each course is full . It’s time to really review the importance of making your own garments or if you own your own collection – concentrate on making your own quality samples rather than pay a sampling house.

One typical statistic is an achievement rate of 88% for the Level 2 Stitching Academy when the national average was 86.8% – how is this achieved? It’s because the tutors are outstanding and the resources mirror those in industry.

However, a course pass or fail does not guarantee success and this is exactly why we have created a new three-month course (that’s free for learners who have passed Level 1 and 2 in a timely manner) – The Practical Stitching Course, which acts as a bridge between industry and education.

Our current cohort of learners are a month in and one of the learner’s has also been lucky enough to attend the FESPA Global Print Expo in Munich, Germany, where she took part in our live factory set up and beautifully demonstrated her stitching skills. Click here to read about FESPA 2019.

Vali is the technician on the course and she commented: “Being the supervisor in our Factory has made me realise how much I know and how much I can contribute to the courses too.  We are using stock fabrics and similar styles under timed conditions to make sure that the people on the Practical Stitching bridge course are industry ready for working in our factory or any other manufacturer. They are loving the course.”
