#Hashtag Made IV Me – Evening Fashion Soirée 5th August
28-07-2022
Independent designer brand Hashtag Made IV Me to celebrate and showcase the unique beauty of women at a collection launch soirée – Friday 5th August…
Hashtag Made IV Me founder and designer Marie is on a mission to empower through her designs. Everyone knows that parenting single-handedly can be challenging at the best of times, but Marie is determined to not let this stop her building a brand that celebrates women. She wants women of all shapes and sizes to embrace their confidence and not be afraid to express themselves through fashion.
Marie came to the UK from France at the age of 16, which is when she first learnt about textiles and how to sew. 11-years later she attended a Community College for a refresher course where her gift was realised, and she was inspired by her peers and teachers to consider fashion as a profession. A persuading factor was her discovery that everyone was wearing the same thing, it gave her the feeling of losing herself and made her determined to start designing pieces that celebrate difference. Wearing her own designs has allowed her to show her unique style and energy, always gaining positive recognition her aim is for other women to feel this too.
Marie continued to develop her skills by getting a Level 1 Diploma in Fashion & Textiles with Islington Community College and a Level 2 in Fashion & Textile Pattern Making. The tutor recognised her ability and encouraged her to pursue further support and learning with social enterprise Fashion-Enter. Courtesy of a community project between Fashion-Enter and Islington Council Marie secured a unit at the FC Designer Workspace; a place to develop her skills and sell her range of bespoke garments at the accompanying Fonthill Road shop.
2-years and 7-months after embarking on her journey with Fashion-Enter, along with support from Islington Council, Marie is launching her first High Summer / Autumn collection by hosting a fashion soiree on Friday 5th August at the FC Designer Workspace.
Marie says: “Women are beautiful and strong, and I use the concept of flowers to illustrate how gorgeous and diverse we are.” Seasons and blooming flowers are the metaphor she uses to conceptualise her thinking of women and this theme will be captured at her fashion soirée. “My designs are created to bring my customers personality and confidence to the forefront, I aspire for the INNER LOVE felt when creating this collection to shine through when the customer is wearing the items.”
Garments from the collection are created with infusions of different fabrics from mixed cultures, themes, and eras to bring a uniqueness to customer and make them glow individually. Some of the fabrics/prints used are a mixture of Ankara prints that showcase Marie’s African background. The Ankara printed fabrics used are 100% cotton, Marie also uses 100% polyester for softness and faux leather (latex) for its flexibility and strength; softness and strength being the two core characteristics of a woman.
The evening event 5.30 – 9pm is set to be a beautiful and unique extravaganza that will highlight the beauty of women of all shapes and sizes and give attendees the chance to check out the new collection whilst enjoying canapes, cocktails, great music, shopping & networking.
