Ground – Breaking Partnership FEL X Adult Community Learning

07-11-2022

Fashion-Enter Ltd has embarked on a ground-breaking partnership with Islington Adult Community Learning (ACL) to deliver an employment-focused Fashion and Textile qualification.

The ACL students are using the amazing facilities and opportunities offered by Fashion-Enter Ltd at the FC Designer Workspace based in the London borough of Islington. Fashion-Enter Ltd manages the affordable FC Designer Workspace along with the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road on behalf of Islington Council in a unique collaboration.

This new partnership is being further strengthened by the Workspace being used a venue to deliver the Level 2 Fashion and Textile certificate to twelve local residents by Islington Council’s Adult Community Learning service. Following the course the learners will be looking to progress onto university, into employment, or towards setting up their own brands and enterprises. The current cohort of learners are really motivated and taught by tutor Petra Hall (who divides her time teaching for both Fashion-Enter Ltd and Islington ACL.)

CEO of Fashion-Enter Ltd, Jenny Holloway is really excited about the opportunities being offered she said: “It’s fantastic to be working collaboratively with Islington Adult Community Learning, the current 12 learners are now all part of the FC Designer Workspace programme using the extensive facilities and support provided by the £10m project.

Each Thursday the learners are here 5-hours and then each Friday which is a further 8 hours. We’re delighted to be providing this support in true partnership style.”

“We’re really proud of this offer,” added Islington ACL Curriculum Manager Simon Fuller. “It’s really the jewel in the crown of our Fashion offer. We have community sewing groups all over Islington and our learners can progress from these onto a brilliant Level 1 course. But the Level 2 course run with Fashion-Enter Ltd is the real deal! It’s when our learners start to use industry-standard machines and we couldn’t offer that without the support and expertise of Fashion-Enter Ltd. We look forward to this being a long-running partnership for the benefit of the residents and wider-community.”
