Five Jewellery Pieces To Invest In

19-10-2023

Jewellery is often an item that is overlooked. Its primary use is to compliment an outfit or piece certain items together. So, when it comes to investment, jewellery might not be the first thing many of us think of.

But there’s reason to suppose that the right item of jewellery might be preferable to gold, oil, property, cryptocurrency, and other commodities. Buy the right piece of jewellery, and you’ll not only have a store of value, but a beautiful item that you can enjoy on a day-to-day basis.

Having elected to invest in jewellery, however, we’re still left with the problem of what sort of jewellery to buy. What factors should inform our decision?

Watches

If you’re shopping for a wristwatch, then brand recognition will matter an enormous amount. Prestigious names like Rolex will command high prices, and items which bear these names will tend to hold their value. There’s a recent boom in wristwatch investment whether it’s an older model or a new model.

A good watch will match nicely with just about any outfit. Look for classic designs that will appeal to everyone – that way, you’ll get the broadest potential customer-base when you come to sell.

On the other hand, you’ll also want something that appeals to your personal sense of style. After all, you’re going to be the one actually wearing the watch from day to day. Look for a watch that matches the rest of your wardrobe.

Chain necklaces

Chain necklaces have become quite trendy over the last decade or so. Relatively speaking, they’re inexpensive, and versatile enough to match with a range of outfits. Get a gold one and a silver one if your budget allows. That way, you can alternate depending on your mood. Simplicity is the name of the game here: go for something that will take a back seat to the rest of your outfit. Simple designs, again, also tend to be more appealing to would-be buyers.

However, there’s no harm in going for something covered in diamonds if your budget allows. Sometimes, it’s OK for the jewellery to be the statement piece.

Ear cuffs

Ear cuffs can be mixed and matched without much trouble. They don’t even require any piercings, and they can be worn to black-tie events, as well as down at your local gastropub. Look to assemble a collection of cuffs.

If you’re willing to look through the second-hand market, then you might be able to find plenty of bargains – some of which might even be sold for a profit. If cuffs aren’t your style, simple studs do the job too.

Diamond bracelets

Bracelets tend to go with just about everything – as do diamonds. Putting them together, therefore, tends to be a reliable solution. You can be reasonably sure that a diamond bracelet will never go out of style; consequently, the value of this investment will be rock-solid for years to come.

Look for the best possible cut, colour and clarity before you worry about carat. It’s better to have a few small glittering diamonds than it is to have large, dull ones. Much like hoop earrings, you can wear several bracelets in a stack without them dominating the entire outfit.

However, a simple bangle can also have the same effect. Certain branded items only need the brand name to retain their value.

Hoop earrings

Finally, we should think about hoop earrings, without which no collection is truly complete. They match nicely with any outfit during any season. This is therefore a perennial choice, and one whose value is unlikely to dwindle.

Hoop earrings thankfully compliment casual and smart wear when it’s done right. Think about the size of the hoop and the style to make sure it fits the general vibe of the event or place you’re visiting.

Whatever jewellery you end up buying, it’s worth safeguarding the investment. Store your jewellery somewhere where it isn’t going to be damaged or stolen and consider allocating a portion of your budget to a quality safe.

Taking out the right insurance for your more valuable items should be considered too to protect your investment. Which jewellery items do you deem worthy for investment?
