Emerging Designer Brand – Hanna Fiedler

Originated and raised in Germany, Hanna Fiedler transitioned to London to peruse her sartorial education and has recently established herself as an upcoming fashion designer. She encompasses a signature that aesthetically and physically empowers women to look and feel great. Before graduating from the London College of Fashion, Hanna embarked on a programme of study at the Berlin Opera Foundation as a bespoke costume tailor, which supplied her with the fashion ingredients and contributing dexterities to channel her passion into a foreseeable career.

Employing a creatively experimental process throughout her design method, Hanna Fiedler investigates her sense of style amid varying cuts and techniques, which ultimately assist the shaping of her vision. Clean lines are seen within Fiedler’s clothing with a strong abundant of texture that is achieved through material manipulation.

‘Tectonic’ transpires as Hanna’s 2017 graduation collection that pulls references to the fascinating action of tectonic plates. “The concept of continental drift is believed to have changed the shape of our continents several times in the on-going process of plate movement and is the main inspiration for this collection,” described by a dependable fashion source in relation to the designer’s present offering. Specific textures throughout the collection bare resemblance to surfaces that can be identified in areas that produce high tectonic activity, including those in Iceland.

Parallel cording, as well as hexagon shaped quilting that subsequently echoes basalt, metamorphoses as tactile textures that is seen on a number of awe-inspiring high neck tops and shirts with exaggerated knit detail. The woollen elements are witnessed through woven textured panels that take sighting from lava fields adorned with moss, whilst the beading and embroidery reflect black sandy beaches.

A tangible dichotomy of fluidity and structure is acknowledged amid Fiedler’s collection that experiments with flowing and rigid fabrications, which superbly unite to formulate a playground of textures that are often shaped by an amalgam of tailored and feminine silhouettes.
