Apprenticeship Entitlements April 2017

In line with an increase to the National Living Wage and the National Minimum wage in April 2017 apprentices will also see a wage rate increase from £3.40 to £3.50 per hour. Other hourly rates per hour will see a 0.5 to 30p increase depending on age as the table shows below:

Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice rate if they’re either:
◦ aged under 19
◦ aged 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship
Hours apprentices are paid for
Apprentices must be paid for:
◦ normal working hours (minimum 30 hours per week)
◦ training that’s part of the apprenticeship (usually one day per week)
Holidays
Apprentices are entitled to at least 20 days paid holiday per year, plus bank holidays.
