BBC BLAST ECO FASHION COMPETITION FOR 13

09-05-2007

Competition deadline: Friday 15th June 2007

The Ethical Fashion Forum has been working closely with the BBC Blast team over the last year to administer an Eco Fashion Competition called Scrap Fashion, focusing on re-designing an old pair of denim jeans to create an amazing garment or accessory. The competition is aimed at reaching over 75% of the UK 5 million teenager market and helps build awareness about the  social and environmental impacts of fashion on our planet, and how innovation in design and recycling can help make a difference.

Winning entrants will have the opportunity to take part in a fashion masterclass and mentoring experience with leading designers in London, design and make professional, catwalk pieces,  and showcase their final designs on the catwalk in Paris.

With over 1 million tons of unwanted fabrics put into UK landfill every year, and young people consuming more fashion items than ever before, this competition is an opportunity for young people to get creative and inspired around issues that matter.
