Young Talent in the Fashion Week Spotlight

FAD young designersThe opportunity is all thanks to charity FAD’s Fashion Futures programme, which gives young people the hands-on experience, technical training and professional mentoring they need to progress into the elite fashion industry.

Twenty London based creatives from diverse backgrounds have been shortlisted from over 70 teenagers. With the support of sponsors NatWest and George at Asda, the finalists have been working hard to perfect their designs, which are inspired by the style leaders of Europe, past and present.

FAD’s #RoadToFashionWeek social media campaign charts each of their journeys in the run up to the event on Instagram – @FADCharity.

A panel of professionals from ASOS, All Saints and George have judged the 20 finalists work and the winners will be announced at the show.

In Sezuthi’s journey, she explains what she’s loved about Fashion Futures, “Although this is competition it doesn’t feel like a competition, we are all nice to each other and we support each other so it’s not like every man for themselves. We all help each other, there is no pressure it’s a really nice environment to work in.”

In Gloria’s journey, she talks about what she has most enjoyed about her experience “I’ve loved meeting all the industry specialist and the volunteers that have come to help us during Fashion Futures, having their input has been a massive help to make our designs come alive.”

The 2017 Fashion Futures Final will take place at Fashion Scout at the Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden on Monday 18th September at 7pm.
