Illustrator Michalis Christodoulou & Swatch Collaboration
20-06-2016
London based fashion illustrator Michalis Christodoulou has worked alongside a wide and impressive range of brands and fashion houses including L’Oreal, Harrods, Estee Lauder, Chloe, Magnum, Pandora and Kate Spade to name a few, and so it came to no surprise why Swatch wanted to collaborate with the artist throughout the course of London Collections: Men.
On a pop up stand at LC: Men’s home – The Strand 180, Swatch advertised their latest collection: ‘The Swatch Pop Watch’ through a collaboration with Michalis. Attendees were given the opportunity to pick, style and wear a piece of their choice from the new collection, whilst being illustrated.
A creative yet functional watch that moves away from the conventional ways of wearing, consumers have the ability to wear one of 9 watches in 5 different ways. From a pocket watch to necklace and badge to desk clock, the watch face pops out (hence the name) and can be applied in various ways, as demonstrated by the Swatch team.
Having picked their piece, each of the team took it in turns to sit and be illustrated by the quiet and calm Michalis. Taking 10-15 minutes to complete each image, the illustrator worked swiftly, paying attention to detail whilst highlighting the main facial features and watch.

Editor JoJo swapped a watch strap for a longline beaded necklace, marketing assistant Rebekah chose to wear her piece as a badge, whilst reporter Sophie opted for an eye-popping bold piece worn as a watch.
