PV…Premiere Vision – A/W 16/17
The press briefing on the first morning revealed that 89% of exhibitors believe PV is the industry’s leading event. Gazing across the vast ocean of product suppliers contained in six halls the size of aircraft hangers and you see why. It is the biggest and the best. 18,553 FB fans, 3,114 Twitter followers, 34,538 views on You Tube and 3269 followers on Instagram.
Re-vamped and consolidated for ease of access, there are now 1,924 exhibitors centred on; Yarns (48); Fabrics (770) Leather (341); Designs (247); Accessories (321); Manufacturing (197) and Knitwear (147). This is more or less a stable number from last year. And it couldn’t be more international with 57 countries represented, including Hungary, Columbia, Macedonia and Serbia as newbies. The top five exhibitors perhaps unsurprisingly are; Italy (732), France (252), UK (144), Turkey (142) and Spain (99). Be there or knit where, seems to be the motto of this highly regarded, influential industry event that welcomes and supports students too!
Texprint, the registered charity that supports the career development of graduates, working with sponsorship from the industry has its own dedicated section, with 24 UK designers short-listed from 210 displaying their designs on table top stands, with a number of them experiencing job opportunities, offers, internships, sales and vital exposure as they take the next steps on their career path. Some going on to Como in Italy (seven weeks training in Italian mills) and Shanghai for further exposure. Great work Texprint.
More from Paul Markevicius at Premiere Vision soon.
