London Fashion Week – Clements Ribeiro

15-09-2012

Underneath the unusual jumper was a simple black shirt, its collar however was embellished at the pointed with what looked like large white petal like sequins, arranged in the shape of a flower, all these themes continued and evolved throughout the collection.

Some of the same colours have been used throughout collection but been swapped around so there were turquoise skirts, jackets and tops and the same with the checked fabric. The floral arrangement of the large sequins on the first outfit led into a floral print halfway through the collection, printed onto pencil skirts and slim leg trousers, and developed further for the fabric of darker coloured jumpsuit with slim leg, tailored body, collar and long sleeves. There was also a dash of a polka dot print which perhaps was inspired by the sequins when placed on their own?

The shapes of the clothes were crisp and fitted, short tailored shorts enhanced the legs of the models and came in floral and leather, teamed with the waist length jackets they flattered the figure and would be get for a summers evening.

The dresses in the collection were mainly focused on the use of the sequins; they feature a scooped neckline, fitted with no sleeves and are mid-calf length, all sheer fabric and covered in the sequins, worn with high-waisted black underwear that is visible through the garments.

The styling of the show was simple, which worked well; small skinny waist belts were added in co-ordinated colours when needed, a few models had bags, large shopper bags in a striped design. The shoes in the show were the same throughout, jelly style, similar to that on trend this summer, however they moved forward from the shiny plastic and have made them in a suede material making look more sophisticated, these came in an array of colours to match the outfits. Jewlery wasn’t used in the show and I think this may be because of the sequin embellishment on the collars of the shirts, no more was needs, it was bold and dazzling.

Overall the show collaborated also of different design ideas together, the mixture of patterns and colours clashed in a way that complimented the overall outfit.
