Iga Musial – New Look Apprentice
14-09-2012
Moved to London when I got the position. Didn’t know how it will work. New country, capital of everything in Europe, biggest city I have ever been in. Having finished High School in my hometown in Poland I have moved to even smaller town in tiny country – Denmark. Whole nation itself has less people than London, after a week you basically know every bus line, every pub, shop, and neighbourhood. Started university there, met new people from all over the world, struggled with simplest things like language, accommodation, money but I put it all together. For two years
I have been learning my ‘adult’ life and I must admit I started to understand Peter Pan more and more, but well ,we do not all have a luxury of staying children for ever. So I tried to be the best at what became unwelcome but was irreversible- responsible grown up life. Denmark did not work out. I figured there is more to life than sitting all day in front of computer calculating GDP, net income, balance sheet and revenue. Went back to my hometown, tried to figure out how to proceed after I have ‘lost’ two years of education (not really acceptable in an environment I am coming from) and then I volunteered to be an assistant for international media during Poland Fashion Week. I have met some great people from that field, fell in love and decided to be a part of it. Went travelling to England, noticed an information about the apprentice scheme (thanks to a person I have met during Fashion Week), thought ‘ no harm in trying’, got in, called my parents and told them that their daughter is living in London from now on.
