Studio Assistant/ Creative Pattern Cutter

Atelier Tammam is a small high end couturier based in central London. With a focus on bespoke gowns mainly for bridal clients and red carpet events our main offering is as a traditional couturier, to liaise with individual clients and ensure their gowns are created to perfection. We also have mainline collections which we wholesale. Our dresses are made using sustainable, ethical materials and production methods with embellishments and some production based in India and Nepal at fair trade units, and some production in the UK.
Atelier Tammam, Bloomsbury is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Couture Fashion Studio Assistant (Creative Pattern Cutting and Couture Finishing) to work in our small high end fashion and bridal atelier, and assist our pattern cutter and designer.
The role will include:

Making and adjusting patterns for mainline and bridal collections.

Working on bridal gown and couture garment finishing, adjustments and sampling.

Working with the creative director to create new seasonal collections.
- Working with bespoke clients to create one off embellished couture gowns.

Creative manual pattern cutting, developing design ideas.

Liaise with sample machinists regarding constructions and organising of toiles and sample garments to be made. Some sample machining.

Working with the designer to inspect sample garments before producing final patterns for factories.

Make spec sheets for factories.

Liaise with factories.

Cutting toiles and fabrics.
- Some administration and sales.
Skills needed:

Creative and good technical knowledge of garment construction, pattern cutting and textiles.

Ability to interpret design sketches into first patterns, liaising closely with designers.

Computer literacy is useful.

Some experience of both machine and hand sewing.

Good understanding of size specification and knowledge of grading.

Good communications skills with designers, machinist, product manager and factories.

Flexible and reliable and accustomed to working towards tight deadlines.
- Happy to turn their hand to all jobs, we are a small company and as such everyone has responsibility for all aspects of the business.

Creative and good eye for design and product details.
Working hours will be 10am – 6pm. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required, in order to meet deadlines for shows and presentations or for events.
Reporting will be to the Creative Director.
The candidate is very likely to be offered a role within the company after the 18months.
To become an apprentice you must:

Have 5 GCSE’s graded A-C

Two of these GCSE’s must be Maths and English

Own a valid UK passport

Own a valid National Insurance card/proof
-
Be aged 16-24
