Trends of Summer 2012
Designers such as D&G, Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto have all featured this look in their collections, which has been followed by high street stores currently selling co-ordinating outfits in various patterns and colours. Topshop has a range of “co-ords” from tops and leggings to suits and shorts as does Urban Outfitters.
Another trend seen on the catwalk this summer is cinched waists and tailoring, creating the perfect hourglass silhouette. This sleek and sophisticated look can be seen by designers such as Chloe, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and many more. This look can also be found in many shops on the high-street. To create the look yourself all you need is a thick belt, the perfect accessory for any look!
The Olympics have also inspired new trends as many people are wearing a sporty look which is very fashionable. From shorts, blazers and heels to body-cons and metallics, this trend is very wearable and current. Designers such as Alexandra Kapsala and Jimmy Choo are featuring pieces in their collections as well as shops such as h&m and Topshop at more affordable prices, meaning you can also wear this look. Just team a pair of metallic shorts with a vest top, blazer and a pair of bright heels and you’re done.
Another trend this summer is oriental prints . This trend is making a come-back with designers such as Proenza Schouler featuring this look in their current collections. Think rich embroidery, kimono jackets, bright colours such as red and blue and obi belts to cinch in the waist. This is definitely a brave look for those who want to stand out from the crowd.
This summer, colour is very important and varies from pretty pastels to vibrant, bold statement pieces and clashing colours. Baby blue, pink, and yellow are all popular choices for the pastel trend this summer as well as pea green and lilac. Many people are wearing this look in the form of jeans from pastel coloured jeans and bright bold jeans (even floral print jeans). This trend can be found in many busy high street shops. Statement jeans and shorts are a must have this season and you can see this look on celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba and Kate Middleton. Don’t be afraid to clash colours and shades (many celebrities are also doing this). So what are you waiting for? Try these trends out for yourself this summer!
