What’s Trending This Week?
#PrayforParis trended worldwide on Saturday, after the terrorist attacks in the capital tragically killed 127 people, and injured many more. Please stay safe everyone.
On Wednesday a poster for Zoolander 2 was revealed with Derek and Hansel capturing themselves (whilst, of course, ‘Blue Steeling’). Despite the fact that the film’s plot revolves around mocking the fashion industry and all it stands for, I am unashamedly excited! Are you?
Get your diaries out, the next V&A exhibition is about to be revealed… V&A’s latest offering to fashion fanatics worldwide will run from April 2016 to February 2017 and is titled ‘Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear.’ Featuring everything from Dolce & Gabbana to John Galliano for Givenchy, this exhibition will display a variety of undergarments: from boxers to high-fashion glamour, and will most definitely (well, I’m guessing) include some sort of Victoria’s Secret lingerie. It’ll have to!
Kris Jenner enjoyed her 60th birthday last Saturday by celebrating it with her daughters at a The Great Gatsby – themed party. The whole Kardashian clan (or should I say klan) got dressed up in fringing, feathers and faux fur. Indeed a night to remember!
It was revealed on Thursday that ASOS.com is launching an affordable bridal range in April next year, and will comprise of a range of silhouettes including short, skater; strapless Grecian; and more traditional high-neck, long-sleeved styles – the highest price point of which will be £250. Accessories and shoes have been well-thought-out too, and according to a spokesperson for the company, a full look will come in at under £400 – a snip considering the quality of the collection.
Alber Elbaz shared a selfie on his newly-activated Instagram account on Wednesday, with the caption: “HUGE hugs + BIG thanks to all of you around the world for showing me so much LOVE. The day after my last show PARIS, I met with Kevin Systrom, the co-founder of Instagram. I joked and told him, ‘I don’t do Instagram because I don’t have photogenic friends…only good FRIENDS and I don’t take pictures of food. I prefer to EAT.’ But this past 2 weeks made me realise how many AMAZING friends + supporters I have and YES, they are all ‘photogenic’ because they are all BEAUTIFUL inside-out”. You can’t not love Mr Elbaz….
On Wednesday, Stella McCartney and Harry Styles joined the likes of Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss in promoting the social media campaign #BeHerVoice as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, supported by Kering, with its White Ribbon for Women campaign. A truly worthwhile cause indeed!
Gigi Hadid shared a photograph on Tuesday of gifts that her mother, Yolanda Foster, gave her ahead of her Victoria’s Secret debut, including a t-shirt, rose and a motivational (and super cute) letter. #momgoals
Brooklyn Beckham presented Victoria with her Fashion Force trophy at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in Manhattan on Monday. Introducing his mother to the stage, the 16-year-old said: “I’m so proud of you, and I’m so happy to be here tonight. I love you!” Victoria accepted the award with a reference to her past, giving the audience the girl power sign and saying of her career, “It started with the Spice Girls and girl power. If I can do it, anyone can do it.” Yay for Victoria!
Remember the Harajuku Girls? Well, it was revealed on Monday that Gwen Stefani is reinventing the brand by launching, wait for it, a line of Harajuku Girls pet clothes. I personally preferred the perfumes…
Gisele Bündchen’s personally curated book, featuring photographs of her career (which retails at $700) sold out on Friday, with pre-orders actually selling out on Thursday, the day before it officially hit bookshelves. The speed at which the initial run of 1,000 copies sold out once again proved the pulling power of the supermodel, with Gisele taking to Instagram to thank her fans for purchasing the tome, with all proceeds from the book being (very nicely) donated to charity.
Did you know that…? Alessandro Michele’s pre-Spring/Summer 2017 Gucci show will take place (rather surprisingly) in London. The date and exact location is yet to be confirmed, but the reasoning behind the decision is evident: “I love English people, because they are the most quirky people in the world. They don’t care,” said Michele. Quirky? I can live with that!
