Fashion’s Unsung Heroes Take Centre Stage
14-04-2004
The event has grown to include fashion industry services such as fabric and trimmings suppliers as well as Cut, Make and Trim (CMT) units and manufacturers, all keen to make contact with designers, producers and buyers attending the event. It was organised by Cutting Edge, a project to support and promote London’s clothing industry, which is led by Business Link for London, the small business advice and support service for the capital.
Fabric company Silk World was one firm to benefit from direct access to potential business leads at the event. Neeraj Kanodia, Director of Silk World says: “Some orders are already starting to come through. We have been busy following up on the 65 leads generated from the day. It was a hugely successful event for us.”
Angela Jackson, Cutting Edge Adviser, added: “We were really pleased with the number of high profile exhibitors and potential buyers attending the show. It demonstrated that many small but significant products and services such as zips, linings and pattern cutting, which the fashion industry relies on, are of high quality and easily accessible in London. Liaising with a fabric supplier, CMT unit or manufacturer in London can make all the difference when time is tight and the pressure is on.”
