Bip Bip @ Lâ’Equipe Anglaise

Bip Bip organised their 2nd fashion/club night last Wednesday. Held at Lâ’Equipe Anglaise in W1, Bip Bip showcased 8 young designers from London’s fashion colleges and universities. The evening combined a heady mix of the new and up-and-coming in the arenas of fashion and music. Guests included representatives from Vogue, Tatler, MD National Magazines, along with Island Records, BMG, McCann Erikson and Channel 4. Selfridges Puts On A Brazilian Party

It’s carnival time in Selfridges as the department store celebrates all things Brazilian. From fashion and beauty to food and sports the Brazilian theme hits every floor. Running until the 31st of May there are daily Brazilian events and performances, visit www.selfridges.com/brasil to check out what’s on and when. Brazilian designers in store include – stunning evening gowns by Carlos Miele, bamboo bags by Glorinha Paranagua, aquamarine jewellery by Kim Poor and look-at-me bikinis by Daslu.

Joy – the urban lifestyle store has just opened store number seven on Putney High Street. Already a favourite with south Londoner’s, established Joy stores are located in Brixton, Chiswick, Clapham Junction, Fulham Broadway, Greenwich and Cambridge. Joy offers an eclectic mix of merchandise from quirky gifts to exotic homewares to the latest inspirational designers. Head Buyer Maureen O’Brien has been in the fashion business for 25 years and likes to inject all Joy stores with a vibrant and fresh range. O’Brien now has her sights on the North West for further outlets, Manchester or Liverpool have been marked as possible locations. Joy is preparing to expand even further over the next three years, as O’Brien hopes to increase from seven to fifteen stores, with North London also being earmarked. The store website www.joy-ful.co.uk will also be transactional in the very near future.

Margin London – the trade show that promotes young streetwear and directional labels has announced dates for its 5th edition. Due to take place on the 8th and 9th of August, this season the men’s and the womenswear shows will run side by side at The Music Rooms in W1. As space is limited the show will be tightly edited to offer 65 strong brands. Organised by Odysseas Constantine, Margin London hopes to provide an affordable platform for fresh young labels. And Finally – FAO and TBC

FAO and TBC have also announced dates for their summer shows, along with Margin, the 8th and 9th of August looks set to be a couple of busy days for streetwear buyers. FAO will run alongside TBC at the Truman Brewery, Brick Lane. www.forattentionof.com
