New York Fashion Week Gets Underway
New York Fashion Week opened on Wednesday 8th September, and it was hangovers-at-the-ready as the first night also brought the glitzy ‘Fashion Rocks’ extravaganza to town. Along with a packed catwalk schedule there’s store openings and parties galore with a Mulberry launch in Bergdorf Goodman, a flashy Sean John store opening, Ghost’s 20th anniversary party and the Pucci flagship get-together on Fifth Avenue, amongst many others. It seems New York has got it going on. New York Fashion Week runs until September 13th, London from the 19th – 23rd September, Milan 25th September – October 3rd and finally Paris October 4th – 12th.
Model of the Moment
Practically every month there’s another young fresh model touted as the next Naomi Campbell, or the new Kate Moss. Right now, it seems, the fashion pack have got their eye on 17-year-old Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Rosie is currently making her debut on the New York catwalks and is set to do the same here when the fashion circus moves across the pond. The Devonshire lass originally turned up at Profile agency for a touch of work experience two years ago. Booker Laura Manktelow could see past the teenage skin and immediately signed her up. Now 17, 5’9″ with clear skin and expressive features Rosie is starting to make an impact, her lucky break came with a Teen Vogue shoot earlier this year and she’s already a favourite with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Luella Bartley.
The Aussies are out in Force
The Aussies it seems are having a fashion moment and are heading to the various fashion capitals to get their latest threads seen. In London shows have been planned for the Antipodium Group – who specialize in Australian labels, along with fellow Kiwi’s Karen Walker, Willow and Zambesi. Over in New York Sass & Bide have been turning heads, while Tsubi prepare to show their latest wares. Ashe Peacock set up Antipodium boutique in Shoreditch last year with the aim of providing some of that fresh, carefree Aussie style in London. The boutique has proved a great success and plans are underway for a 2nd West-End store in the near future. Austique is another predominantly Aussie filled shop situated on the King’s Road. Labels such as Jayson Brundson and Akira are currently being snapped up by those chic Chelsea girls.

Stella Partners Up with Adidas
Stella McCartney is not really a name that comes to mind when you think of sportswear, she has however, just recently launched a new chic range of gym wear in collaboration with Adidas. The collection contains pieces that can be worn for all kinds of sports activities and features plenty of McCartney’s design trademarks. The launch of new line in New York this week marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the designer and the sportswear giant. The aim is to provide stylish, high-tech gym wear that a grown-up woman would want to wear. McCartney worked with sports enthusiasts from swimmers to runners to ensure that the new range performs as well as it looks.
This Week it’s all about – Boots
More over Ugg, London girls are going for the new round-toed retro vibe boot with a heel. Like these from Top Shop, the look is more sassy than granny – plus they go with pretty much anything.
