Tracy Rowe explained how Steve has successfully made it into mainstream photography and is now a highly respected photographer with regular commissions from all sectors of industry.

 

“Steve joined the family PR photography business, full time, twenty years ago. The fours years after school were spent on the tennis circuit, coached by Roger Taylor playing mostly in Portugal, on the Satellite circuits. Steve coached tennis in Portugal before coming home to his first love – photography.

 

From early teens Steve was happy helping, (hindering more like) his Dad, he loved the sheer spontaneity and diversity of the work, every day was and still is so different. When he started full time in the business he received no special treatment, he was the runner, tea boy and general dogs body. Eventually let loose with a camera, Steve was so keen to photograph anybody and anything.

 

 

  

 

 

 

The company was well established and worked for prestigious companies on reputable brands and campaigns, such as Miss Pears, Bisto Kids, Woolworths, McDonalds, Securicor, ICI and Royal Rota events.

 

There are not many areas of photography that Steve has not worked in, people and product photography in studio using medium format cameras, architectural and industry work using 5X4 technical, it is however 35mm format that he uses most today. Digital photography set new standards in terms of speed, no doubt, but it is only recently that the quality has reached sufficient standards to use commercially. Steve has embraced and enjoyed the transition to digital and no longer carries film.

 

  

 

 

 

Steve loves the speed and variety of angles he can achieve shooting 35mm, essential for the fashion events he covers. In recent years he has worked behind the scenes for hair & make-up companies at London Fashion Week. The atmosphere just prior to show time is electric and highly pressurised – great for pictures!

 

Steve continues to work for large companies such as Diageo, McDonalds, Wella and BT but he especially enjoys the fashion related work – let’s face it who wouldn’t!
