The official launch of The Textile Centre of Excellence in Huddersfield

 

In September we reported on the new Fame Academy for Yorkshire whereby Yorkshire Forward has invested more than £500,000 in a centre which will create around 30 design businesses over the next three years.

The Textile Centre of Excellence is an employer led initiative dedicated to providing high quality, cost effective training and education for the Textile Industry.  The Centre is a Flagship for the Industry which attracts the right calibre of people into Textiles.

Today we are pleased to showcase the centres state-of-the-art textile technology. The centre is only as good as the people that work there and the centre is blessed with a highly qualified and competent staff that is spearheaded by Bill Macbeth Managing Director.

Bill Macbeth addresses visitors at the Textile & Fashion Incubator Unit at the Textile Centre of Excellence.

The approved designers will be able to use a 600 square metre design studio, with services including a testing laboratory, and a fashion studio with digital printing facilities. They will also have access to technical workshop using computer controlled carding, spinning, warping and weaving equipment.
