The Fashion Garden

10-05-2005

In association with The London Fashion Forum and the Arts Institute at Bournemouth, Kingly Court, the perfect venue for a spring garden event held the Fashion Garden catwalk show and exhibition. The courtyard, just off Carnaby Street holds outlet shops, some very unique, some high street fashion.

Fashion Garden – a catwalk showcase of new 12 designers was accompanied by a static exhibition in outlet 2.4 on the second floor of Kingly Court and features six designers. The bar area also showed a photography exhibition from students at London College of Fashion who collaborated with Levi’s accessories to create a ‘Fashion Garden’ inspired collection of work. Hazlems Fenton, chartered accounts specialising in Fashion business development and accountancy were one of the major sponsors of Fashion Garden. Their exhibition stand can be seen in the exhibition at 2.4. The exhibition, opened by Daisy de Villeneuve, is open for a further two days until Wednesday 11th May.

Over 400 people squeezed into Kingly Court, just off Carnaby Street in W1, for the catwalk show and exhibition launch. Guests watched collections from 12 designers on the catwalk including Almost Certainly, Amy Marie Hall, Elinor Franklin, Maame Baryeh, Nirva and La’Pierre Ltd, Sado Fashion House, Artless, Tiffany McCall Couture, Heidi Mottram, Fazed Out and Rise and Shine. The exhibition featured beautiful illustrations, photography and textile design from Lucy Butler, Kate Berman, Elisenda Russell, Netta Laor, Nicola Mole and Ria Roberts.

A beautifully clear evening, with a slight chill in the air set the evening off perfectly, along with invitation holders sipping the gorgeous Beringer pink sparkling wine and Perrier water, the venue was dressed with stunning pink fushias from Paula Pryke ( Liberty’s) and large plants and outdoor furniture from Homebase.

On the catwalk the models showed off their striking hair styles by Toni & Guy and glamorous make up by second year students from London College of Fashion.

Hayley Baynard and Sarah Cox are in their final year at Bournemouth and together they organised Fashion Garden as part of their BA in Arts & Events Production.

Although originally conceived as a one-off, Sarah told us: “we’d definitely be interested in organising another Fashion Garden – please get in contact if you can help us. We are really pleased and surprised that so many people love the concept of Fashion Garden.”

For more information, or to get involved in future projects, contact Sarah and Hayley through the website. www.fashiongarden.co.uk or email at fashiongarden@hotmail.com.
