Roll On 2007 – by Michele Obi

21-12-2006

For fashion it looks set to be a decent year. For starters, there are the fresh faces at Couture week in January. Thank-god the Chambre Syndicale finally bit the bullet and invited 6 new arrivals to show, including best of all British Design duo Boudicca.

Then there is the inevitable boho showdown with Kate Moss Vs Sienna Miller. Moss with her line for Topshop, for which she’s left the creative process in the capable hands of Katy England and Miller with her new label “Twenty8Twelve” which she’s partnered up with her fashion designer sister Savannah to develop. Now I know a model does not a designer make but if Sienna could put her life on the line and offer up her creative juices to her new venture, surely Kate could have attempted the same. This will sure be an interesting match and with England in Moss’ corner, it’ll be a tough one.

Finally what I’m anticipating the most, Spring/Summer 07 on the high street. H&M have already given us a little taster of what’s to come next season and it’s a retro treat filled with rich colours, loose fitting pieces for the hot summer days and platforms to satisfy the shoe addicts. Below is a compilation of the best pieces from the collection.

However, there is no doubt in my mind that New Look will steal their limelight with their 35 piece collection with designer of the year Giles Deacon. Considering Deacon will be working on a budget lower than he’s probably used to, the focus will have to be on design and although I’m still amazed at the collaboration, after much deliberation it could be possible that Deacon will delight many fashionistas with the collection.

Anything you guys are looking forward to fashion wise in the New Year?
