More Rules—Relating To Labels

19-09-2012

There are detailed rules on the labelling of products and one new rule introduced is a requirement to clearly label the non-textile parts of animal origin in textile products.  It is important to note that if the product is intended for export and sale outside the UK then labelling or marking must be provided in the official language or languages of the Member State in the territory of which the textile products are made available to the consumer, unless otherwise specified by the Member State concerned.

With these new regulations coming into effect manufacturers, wholesalers and customers alike must be aware that earlier placed orders may not now comply when the products enter the EU and as a result stock may not be able to be sold.
