TIM LITTLE

Tim Little, creator of Tim Little Shoes believes that the good old British way of doing things is the right way.

Tim Little, who makes Grenson shoes sticks to the English designs, these are the ones that are most popular and sell internationally –

Its clear that for a bit more, the quality of the shoe is defiantly worth it as the company has been in business for over 50 years!

British style is a very popular and creative, the English Grenson designs being the best selling, both in the home land and internationally. I believe when investing in a pair of Grensons, you not only paying for the shoes of great quality that will last you a long time, but your also paying for years of experience and craftsmanship – something not seen as much nowadays.

The ‘well-made but quirky’ design is now available in both men and women’s styles, and is defiantly worth the (I mean even George Clooney and James Corden own pairs!)

The factory is full of true-craftsmen with years of experience and training, many passing their skills down through generations, all working very close together. Tim Little, keen on the quality of his products is clearly close to those working within his company and he visits 3 days a week.

GILES DEACON

Giles Deacon is all about the quality in his products than the quantity, every couture piece is made on a made-to-order basis by private clients as well as being made to measure in London.

The studio is in a lovely location in Brick Lane, with windows that let in “just the right light” as this is crucial to getting the designs perfect.

Quality is the main focus of the designer as pieces can take up to 3 months of work, with the work done by a very highly trained couture team, all trained in different areas of production. All come together and work together at their specific talent to make a single piece. This can mean between 3-15 people working on just one piece at a time! (luxurious right?!)

The studio in london is were Giles is based, and has clients including Kylie and Gwyneth Paltrow. The quality and feeling of having a one off piece of clothing that was specially handmade for you, with weeks of craftsmanship cant be beaten and you can really appreciate the quality and luxury of the work. British fashion is so individual and different to other cultures, but here we really are all about the quality and look of style. Britain really has its own distinct feeling and look, this is why it is such a popular and desired look.

PATRICK GRANT

Patrick Grant believes that British manufacturers are the best in the world, without question that is why since relaunching E.Tautz in 2009, all products are manufactured in Britain.

Their fabrics used are sourced from factories within the UK, with the finest silk weavers around. They have great experience and knowledge due to their legacy stretching back for hundreds of years, its not about production being made faster and cheaper, its all about making products better.

The British and other countries are finally starting to notice and realise the hard work and quality that goes into made in Britain manufacturing is, and a lot more people are starting to appreciate it and pay extra for the quality.

The high quality of E. Tautz has a really diverse amount of customers, and those that appreciate the products, such as Jonathan Saunders, David Gandy and Christopher Kane.

The decision at E.Tautz is that they would rather offer something that is the best quality and suffer the consequences of it being more expensive, than having to base the business on price and worry about the lack of quality later.

PIERS ATKINSON

Being brought up around fashion and great quality fashion really inspired Piers Atkinson to start making products in the UK and maintaining the great quality that his mum worked at to feature her hat on the cover of Vogue.

Due to the design of the hats being so eccentric and fun, he wasn’t able to just hand over the duties to a factory, as they wouldn’t know how to.

Making products in Britain and maintaining the great quality of work has always been something Piers has done. All manufacturing and design is done in the UK, and the location of the studio is in Hackney London, with a team of 11, and right down the road from other companies such as JW Anderson and Fred Butler. Its all about the customer in the designs and getting a good reaction from them, obviously having such great quality means they enjoy wearing the hats and feel glamorous. Customers include Lady Gaga, Rihanna and the Princesses of York – they wore their hats for the special Jubilee celebrations.

JULIEN MACDONALD

Having the experience of having to dress some of the most rich and beautiful A list women in the world, means that the quality of products have to be at five stars.

The new workplace opened in Savile Row two years ago, and all the clients have followed for the great quality products.

Clients dressed include, Beyonce, Elle Macpherson, Florence Welch and Cher these clients style are all completely different, its a variety. And they always like to come in-store and meet the people making their item of clothing, this makes the process very personal and they usually get to know them on a name to name basis. Big productions can require more than 20 staff on production.

Everyone making and associated with the manufacturing is British. The area of the store is found in an area know for its high quality of craftsmanship, and Julien Macdonald brings some “glamour and sparkle to a very traditional part of London’ This attracts a younger and international market. When you hear or see that clothing is made in Britain, you feel proud to wear it due to the effort and work that has been put into the design and production as well as the tradition of the monarchy and values of Britain as a nation.
