Great Success at Meet the Manufacturer
13-06-2014
Meet the Manufacturer is the first and only major sourcing event specifically for British only producers of clothing, textiles and leather goods. More than just a trade fair, the two-day event provided opportunities for UK factories, designers and buyers to network together under one roof, in an environment that is open and collaborative to doing business.
Mary Portas opened the event, held at The Old Truman Brewery in East London, with a passionate speech about the return and growth of British production. She was joined by the likes of journalist Lucy Siegle, Ian Maclean the managing director of John Smedley and many other industry professionals.
Our sister company Fashion Enter was also present with a trade stand representing The Factory and training programmes such as the Stitching Academy. Our very own CEO Jenny Holloway also took to the stage to discuss ‘Why Made in Britain is Here to Stay’.
Jenny Holloway was very impressed with the event she said: “A huge congratulations to Kate Hills (Founder and Managing Director of Make it British) for creating such a successful event. With thousands visitors over the two-days it was an amazing achievement. Our stand was mobbed, especially after the presentation, and we have met some exciting new clients. I really believe most of the contacts will lead to genuine business being created. Well done Kate Hills this is just the start! What are you going to do next year; you will need a bigger venue for sure! Again many congratulations Kate. Make it British is here to stay!”
