Last year (2021) Fashion-Enter Ltd CEO Jenny Holloway took part in a in-depth report to identify opportunities for investment, research and development, business growth, job creation and tackling skills gaps in the fashion and textiles sector.
A collaboration between the Business of Fashion, Textiles and Technology Creative Research & Development Partnership, the research was compiled by Professor Jane Harris, Dr Lipi Begum and Dr Alessandra Vecchi.
This initial report: Mapping the UK Fashion, Textiles and Technology Ecosystem is now available online, please find the full report here and the summary here.
Thanks to valuable contributions from industry professionals, such as Jenny, the impact of the survey has been highly significant and pivotal to gain an in-depth understanding of the polycentric nature of the sector and its geographical spread.
Key recommendations have been formulated emerging from the survey results. These involve policy level recommendations, concerning practices impact on the climate and the need for sustainable business models, online/ offline integration of business models, and importing/ exporting guidance. The report has also emphasised the imperative need for future allocation of R&D funding necessary in order for the sector to fully reach its potential, unlock its untapped growth and to further thrive and prosper.
A follow-up survey is now underway (May 2022) and once again Jenny will be lending her opinions on some of the most pressing issues affecting her, and the sector including; Brexit, the pandemic, and climate change to inform and contribute on future policy initiatives that can truly cater for the industry at large.
