19-12-2016

Another visit held to ensure GCSE textiles students had the ability to gain invaluable insight into the way that a British manufacturing company runs, Slough and Eton textile teachers brought their students to Fashion Enter.Screen Shot 2016-12-19 at 1.52.25 pm

Welcoming the students into the factory Jenny Holloway spoke to the young group about the Fashion Enter factory, revealing the story behind the company and how Fashion Enter started before detailing sister companies FashionCapital, The FTA, the Fashion Studio and the FC Fabric Studio.  Sharing her industry knowledge and advice to the group provided them with a wealth of knowledge to take back to school.

Providing a factory tour, Jenny was able to show the students how a live manufacturing factory produces over 7,000 garments a week and detailed all of the crucial jobs needed to ensure production, and the company, runs smoothly.  From pattern cutters to machinists, they witnessed all of the many roles required to make a product.

After their tour of Fashion Enter, Rosie told the group what happens in the Fashion Studio before Leyla invited them into the Fashion Technology Academy, where our Stitching Academy students were hard at work!

On their visit the students commented;

“I have learnt the difference between different fashion jobs.” – Natasha

“I have learnt a lot from this seminar, especially about what I can do in the future… I like the fact that everyone is organised – they know what they are doing and they are working safely.” – Shireen

“I learnt the different jobs people do in a factory… I found watching them work very fascinating!” – Hibah

“Today has taught me what actually goes into making a garment.” – Mariam

“Today has shown me that there are a lot more jobs in fashion other than designing… The FTA also seems a great place to do an apprenticeship.” – Esther
