VIN + OMI Collaborate with LCF To Launch BIN 2 BODY

VIN + OMI have established themselves as pioneering activists in the field of sustainable, forward-thinking eco-fashion. From eco latex to chestnut leather to rPET made from salvaged plastic – the environment is at the forefront of the brands ethos.

During London Fashion Week Men’s (June 2018) the duo announced their latest project in collaboration with the London College of Fashion. BIN 2 BODY; will turn single-use plastic bottles collected during the event, into fashion which will be showcased at the next VIN + OMI show in September.

Single-use plastic has been the latest environmental topic to hit the headlines of late and recent statistics show that London currently has the worst recycling rate in the UK, 32% compared to a national average of 43%.

(VIN + OMI are joined by Caroline Rush CBE, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council and Dilys Williams – Director of Centre for Sustainable Fashion at University of the Arts/LCF to launch the project.)

Design brands such as VIN + OMI are keen to explore ways in which plastic can be recycled and effectively re-used and BIN 2 BODY will showcase this very notion.

Bespoke collection bins, designed by LCF students studying accessories, illustration and 3D production for fashion and performance, were placed around the main LFWMen’s venue on The Strand. Emptied on a daily basis all the plastic water bottles collected will be processed into plastic flakes and pellets, which will then be processed into new rPET textiles with a low microfiber release.

The rPET textile is then ready for the pattern cutting table and will be revealed as a wearable VIN + OMI garment come Fashion Week in September.
