FEL – Inclusive Diverse and Proud
18-05-2023
Earlier this month Deaf Awareness Week took place and this annual event resonated with Fashion-Enter Ltd as our team includes Glenford, who is deaf, and has been with us for over 12-years.
Glenford works as a presser on the factory floor in Haringey and is an amazing asset to the team, always happy and positive.
Glenford, along with Robert and Monica are ex-Remploy, a long-established initiative that provided six decades of support and employment opportunities for disabled people. The Remploy brand has since been phased out and this service is now provided by Maximus.
Jenny Holloway, CEO of Fashion-Enter Ltd commented: “It’s been a delight to work with Glenford, Monica and Robert. They are all fabulous hardworking people and being less-abled has not stopped each and everyone of them being retrained.”
At FEL we firmly believe in opportunities for all and being Disability Confident we feel is beneficial on numerous of levels including:
- Challenging attitudes towards disability
- Increasing understanding of disability
- Removing barriers to disabled people and those with long-term health conditions
- Ensuring that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations
Jenny added: “Each individual at FEL is very much a part of our diverse and inclusive workforce and many of us have learnt a few BSL signs and effective ways to include and communicate. People with disabilities have so much to offer!”
