Job _title_: Sales Trainee
Reporting to: Tony Coulston, Managing Director
Context: JRC Imports Ltd is an import business supplying fabric from Turkey and the Far East to garment manufacturers and retailers in the UK and overseas. The company specialises in supplying prints to mass market high street stores such as Top Shop, New Look, River Island, Debenhams and Next. The business has grown quickly since being established by Tony Coulston in 2003 and now employs six people at offices in Kentish Town.
Preamble: The role of Sales Trainee is a new one which has arisen because of the company’s growth and success. Tony Coulston has to date managed all of the sales effort himself; he now needs an assistant to help him with managing his key accounts. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to learn the ropes within an exciting area of the fashion industry and for the right candidate there is potential to take on their own small accounts in the future.
Purpose: To assist in all sales duties as required, including delivering sampling to garment manufacturers and retailers across London.
Key activities:
1. Shadowing Tony Coulston (and sales agent, Paul Nash) in sales meetings.

2. Ensuring that sample requests are recorded in meetings and passed onto the Design Co-ordinator.

3. Ensuring that new sampling, production lengths, strike-offs and artwork are delivered to customers promptly and in good condition.

4. Collecting artworks, strike-offs, new colourways from customers, understanding customer instructions and returning them to the office.

5. Tracking new design trends in-store.

6. Developing a fantastic knowledge of the range and keeping the sales bags tidy.

7. Taking minutes of meetings.

8. To gain an understanding of business terms, margins, prices, meterage, percentages, delivery times, production processes, invoicing, debit notes etc

9. Contributing new design ideas to team meetings.
