Hi Jenny,

Be great to meet with you guys for a coffee & a chat. Please feel free to talk to all the designers i mentioned.

It's fine representing the established designers that I already carry as their agent but I recognise that it is a little harder for younger/smaller designers to get a foothold in some of these retailers. This is where I try to help in a small way.

Buyers will always make up their own minds with regards to merchandise being presented to them, however there are ways in which we, as salespeople, can increase our chances of taking orders. This is primarily the area I focus on & if I am able to help smaller designers who, as you rightly say, do not have access to the finances for shows &advertising/marketing campagns that the larger designers do, then I will happily help. A lot of designers just ring me & I will readily chat to them for however long it takes & advise ( As long as im not selling a collection!)

Be good to meet with you guys anytime.

Hi, No we have not had this conversation already together - that's why I asked the quiestion - I know you have had the conversation with Emily though. I did also say about putting up some testimonals about you too so as we know a few of these designers we will contact them.

Please bear in mind that we have 1000s of users - 60,000 each month and some are not as reputable as your goodself. We have a duty of care to protect our users and offer the best possible advise that we can. You often use the forums and I am sure they have generated many leads for you - if the designers are finding this of benefit then that's what we care about.

We will contact a few of your designers above - I really thnk however that we should meet for coffee and discuss if there are any mutual ways of working together? What do you think?

Jenny

Hi Jenny,
Havent,t we had this conversation already? I thought both yourself & Emily already had the info pack?
As you know I have 22 years experience in the Uk fashion business, starting from the WHS, through to QC & Production, through the design & pattern rooms and into cmt units before settling into sales, which i have benn doing for 20 years.
In order to fully understand this business, especially selling to buyers, you have to go through this learning curve otherwise you cannot possibly know how it all comes together, but you do not need to be a buyer to understand all it takes to become a part of the supply chain.
I have taken Top shop buyers to factories in Delhi & secured orders from the multiples before the likes of ASOS & Primark even exsisted. I have worked at very close hand with buyers right from the high street level to Couture level having worked with Maria Grachvogel ( Sloane St). I can advise how multiple buyers use their formula for achieving their mark ups ( not the same terminology as how boutiques mark up) and having worked with boutique & dept buyers for the past 20years I have an in depth knowledge of their working patterns also.
I don't think my credibility as to my knowledge of the industry is at question here having done this for many years. I think maybe you should ask some of your designers on fashion capita yourself, ask Rachael Hannah, Asudari, Couture Clubbing, Quuteillumina, Samantha Cole, just to name a few
