The British Fashion Council (BFC) today announces the nominees for the 2007 British Fashion Awards sponsored by Swarovski.  The winners will be celebrated at a dinner held at the Lawrence Hall, Westminster on Tuesday 27th November 2007.  The event recognises the strength of British fashion and the key role it plays within a highly competitive global market.

The nominees in nine of the ten categories have been compiled by the BFC’s Press Committee which is chaired by Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue. The winners will be decided by an invited panel of judges comprising leading press, buyers and industry figures.

This year, in recognition of an outstanding career identifying, nurturing and championing British creative talent, the award for fashion creator has been dedicated to the late Isabella Blow and will be known as the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator.  In addition to this the BFC announces its BFC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design, which recognises a figure who has made an impact on the industry internationally, throughout their career, judged by a committee of international fashion industry influencers.   Only the winner for this award will be announced.

For the second year the BFC Fashion Enterprise Award sponsored by Swarovski will give £50,000 to a developing designer who is currently showing at London Fashion Week.  The nominees must have been in business for a minimum of three years, have received New Generation funding in the last three years or be at a similar stage in their business.  Applications for this award are open until 19th October 2007.  Only the winner of this award will be announced.
