Northbrook, came out as a very strong contender and definitely have a few students worth keeping an eye on......

When Natalie Evans sent her models down the catwalk, I suddenly woke up. This had all the hallmarks of Ashish, yet it was here, enticing me at GFW. The item in question was a full on sequined mini dress, in black that spelt out the traditional slogan of 'I (heart) NY'. I was sold, totally and utterly into Evans world. This was only further decided by the delightful, mini green trench, and the yellow/black/white checkerboard print that made me think of NY diners. The sequin, tailored jackets in bright hues of pink and red made for a spunky and sassy collection. While sequins have been everywhere on the first day of GFW, none did it so well as Natalie, so she is my definite sequin girl of the day.

Meanwhile Michael Williamson showed a punk, rock collection that had a certain All Saints feel to it. I loved the little print, silk shift, which had a view of London through bridge railings on it and I was only sad, that not more was made of such a divine print, it hid away under the models arms and I missed it not appearing in the rest of the collection. Having said that there were some well tailored trousers in wine, and silk jersey draped tops and biker come frock coat in leather that was particularly fantastic.

Amy Moore, also had a slight punk thing going on, this time it felt a little more Westwood, with a  rebellious newspaper style print, mixing monochrome tones with a blood red. I loved the full peg leg trousers, the 60's style print blouses and the stripe jackets that made me think of Velvet Underground and Eddie Sedgwick.

Finally ending my favourite selection on yet another rebellious personality, this time in menswear. Fah Signton, showed yet another monochrome collection that combined beautiful tailoring, such as a white, pleat fronted, silk, waistcoat, stunning dress coats and glittering embroidery on both sheer and heavy fabrics to form delicate tops and coats. There were some good basic jersey tops that played nicely with shapes and again experimenting with fabric mixtures and weights. I particularly like the thought that went into ensuring the whole look, as models faces were covered in lace, and chiffons which made them appear almost menacing.
