Abenaa has won 'Start-up Business of the Year'

Here, we have fantastic news that Fashion Enter’s own designer Abenaa has not only been nominated for an award at the precious awards 2009 but won the award for 'Start-Up Business of the year!

Despite trading for less than one year, London based fashion designer Abenaa Pokuaa’ efforts haven’t gone unrecognised having recently been nominated for an O2X Award in October. However this week we are glad to announce that Abenaa’ has received an accolade for ‘Start-Up Business of the Year’ at the Precious Awards 2009 in London for her popular fashion brand Ohema Ohene. The brand has been able to establish itself on the market, with a growing fan base and Abenaa’ vision has gained enormous attention from great buyers and the press. Ohema Ohene is currently stocked at The Laden Showroom (Brick Lane), Fashion Enter (Croydon), The Greenwich boutique and Allders Croydon.

Over the past 12months Ohema Ohene has vastly grown in popularity and has enjoyed a successful year; establishing itself on the market, gaining great buyer and media attention. Abenaa Pokuaa, Managing Director, Ohema Ohene commented, “We are delighted to have won the PRECIOUS Awards for ‘Start-Up Business of the Year’ 2009.  This award recognises 12months of hard work and determination as we have endeavoured to be a fashion brand that fuses a mixture of heritages like no other.”

The PRECIOUS Awards is the leading ceremony celebrating the achievements of inspirational entrepreneurial women of colour who are running businesses in the UK. This year, one of Fashion Enter’s very own designers Abenaa has been selected as a finalist in the Best Start-Up Business and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.  Abenna’s label is called Ohema Ohene meaning ‘QUEEN & KING’ in the Ghanaian language of Twi. It is a London-based boutique brand specialising in accessories and clothing which are ethnically influenced. Currently the brand is stocked at The Laden Showroom, Allders Croydon and The Greenwich boutique and Fashion Enter Boutique. The brand has two lines Ohema Ohene mainline and the diffusion line OH! By Ohema Ohene, a sustainable line using vintage, recycled and reclaimed batik prints. This line also includes a range of Batik pumps an innovative new product never been see or done before. The brand was also a finalist for the O2x awards Young Entrepreneur of the year last month. Congratulations to our talented designer and all the best for next week’s honourable awards.
