Gone are the days when as little madams we chose to sport the Alice band in favour of all other hair accessories; now a more mature approach, though one equally as charming, has been taken by the fashionistas of the street.
With the concept of recyclable and regenerated fashions being brought forth in all designer frontiers, it is a given that some would opt to make and rework hair clips and badges to create quaint accessories.   The bow was a popular choice of hair adornment this week - it lends itself well to any outfit and enforces an air of endearment and frivolity to the wearer thus eliminating otherwise subdued tones emitted.     Now, it is clear that any woman seen draped in a head scarf is incredibly chic and wise; so why not follow this trend and wrap around a length of fabric to achieve a subtle period look.    Designer Rachel Comley can be seen to display her take on the headscarf with a layering effect; the 2 tone look is appropriate for both day and evening wear and is playful, yet amply chic for all activities.  Paul Smith went for the complete headscarf look and covered the head in a monochromatic woven scarf full of drama and texture which falls into step well with the element of gratis seen within this trend.  Charlotte Ronson delivered the quintessential way in which to wear the scarf in the recent Autumn/Winter 2008 Ready-to-wear shows - the close tonal range of hair colour and choice of scarf helps to integrate the scarf into the entire body creating a coordinating ethereal look, which validates the scarves purpose and achieves a rather refined look.  The rise of innovative and alternative headwear options in no way marks the end of the humble woolly hat or favourable beret - it is simply a suggestion of other methods appropriated to achieve diverse looks. So don't going throwing out all of that good stuff, keep it! Just integrate the head scarf and some bow clips now and again to mix-and-match your everyday look. Layla Robinson |
