It has been a miserable week all round; work mounting up, coursework deadlines looming, exam results fast approaching and Valentine's day on the horizon. To make matters worse the weather has been, quite frankly, pants. Now this is my third winter in Yorkshire, I should be used to the Leeds weather, cold and wet from October to May, but it seems not. This semester I made a fatal error. I left my wellies at home. On the plus side this has given me an opportunity to get out and about and investigate the fabulous (and practical) footwear that you lot are sporting to keep those tootsies toasty!  My first port of call was Primark, I needed a cheap, quick remedy to my soppy soles. If you've not got a lot of dosh then they've got some fab options, from union jack to leopard print there's a wellie for everyone. However these are not the most practical shoes, if you need your wellies for more than just walking around the city and keeping dry you may need to invest more than £11. A home I have Hunters, the most practical and comfortable wellington boot. (Poor me, home is 200+ miles away and it's raining right now!) If you're keen to invest and you've still got some loan knocking around, we are only 4 weeks into the term after all, Hunters are the way forward. I've had these since I was little, back then they weren't about fashion they were about function. I always wanted the pair my friends had with the frog eyes but as my dad always reminded me "we're walking the dog- it's not a fashion parade!" Oh how my eight year old self would love to have a look through the new, improved Hunter selection. Nowadays, if you're willing to splash the cash there's a huge amount of styles to choose from. Although, now I'm old and boring like my dad, I do like the classic green.  My top find for this week comes courtesy of Tesco's. These beauties will only set you back £12- what's not to love! They're so on trend they don't even look like wellies! So you lovely lot, don't fret, embrace the rain. Get those wellies on, unleash your inner child and splash! |
