The first day at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Well it's very very cold. After a ridiculously early start we flew into Denmark over an icy coast and snowy fields, it was a beautiful sight. The city its self is gorgeous too. After checking into the Hotel 27, home to lucious cocktails and an Icebar we had a little explore. We are in the old part of Copenhagen and the buildings, I am told, date back to the 16 hundreds which explains their beautiful design.
Our first show was Kopenhagen fur. This comprised of many different Danish designers and was a bit of a mish mash. Bit too much of a mish mash for my taste. A designer that stood out was Islæt with gorgeous colourful designs comprising of feathers and multi coloured prints.
Another favourite was Benedikte Ortzun with huge head pieces and fur bustles- I loved it. It's amazing to see fur so widely accepted as part of a show, no greenpeace paint splatterers to be seen! As a vegetarian I should probably feel bad about animals slaughtered mercilessly for the pleasure of the press, but it's just too beautiful!
Massive mistake for that show was- during the 2nd designers set the 3rd designers garment was sent on to the runway. End of that poor Danish models career? Perhaps not, this is nothing like London. The atmosphere is very laid back... We have already been for bruscetta and fishbowl glasses of wine with the press and show co-ordinators!
The next show for us was Ivana Helsinki. The collection was.... Really repetitive. I tried so hard to get excited, but the garments consisted off a mangled mixture of shapes in a variation of a "copper chain" theme fabric. The most exciting part was a chain see-through mini dress. It was a very long, drawn out, consistent show. The makeup how ever was fabulous and I will show you how to recreate the look on FC very soon.... Next was Louise Amstrup... a much better show- shorter, more concise and with a logical theme but more variation in fabric. I loved the last playsuit, with a colourful ink splatter print and feather boa arms. I enjoyed this a lot more than her Kopenhagen Fur collection even though the themes were similar. We missed the last show due to an overlapping and were lured to our hotel's restaurant and our much needed beds. Tomorrow brings more shows, meeting the designers and a rumoured Lady Gaga appearance! Much love sent on the icy northern winds! Jemima daisy x
Jennifer and Jemima were spotted in the Fashion Paper in Copenhagen. The Caption was 'Umm.. hello there baby. if you want to play with jennifer and jemima you best werk those mcqueen heels a li'l bit smoother, mkay'. This coincided tragically with the news that superstar designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his home.
