Sculptural Forms from Aslanturk
Mustafa Aslanturk shows off his debut Autumn/Winter collection in what seems to be turning into a party fuelled week…

Seems like everyone is in the party mood. Monday night saw the launch party of Giles Deacon’s new and affordable range for New Look. Apparently the range entitled ‘Gold By Giles’ is already causing a storm at New Look’s flagship store on Oxford Street. Tuesday and yet another chic soiree, this time in the shape and form of Fashion Fringe. Yes, the annual competition is gearing up for its 2007 edition and stylishly kicked off the proceedings with a party at The Dorchester.

Meanwhile, fashion folk already missing the buzz of the catwalk were treated to a debut show from emerging talent Mustafa Aslanturk at the Mint Leaf club. Aslanturk graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2005 and had previously studied Interior Architecture in Cyprus. The architectural influence is very much apparent in his Autumn/Winter 07/08 collection called “Sense Spacious.” Sculptural drapes and folds in hues of metallic bronze, silver and cream are combined with graphic clean lines. Billed as an off-schedule show, albeit several weeks late, it could quite possibly be a wise move to debut away from an already over-crowded schedule. All in all it was a polished first show with plenty of ideas and a strong sense of label identity.
