The Workshop element of Fashion Enter was part of a promotional push offering training opportunities. This had been organised by the Bridge New Deal for Communities (NDC) in collaboration with the Career Development Group, Haringey NHS ‘Working for Health’ project and the Workshop. The event was held on Thursday 28th of January at the Triangle Centre in Haringey.
Employment Theme Manager for the NDC, Geoff Hollett said ‘We were approached by one of the training providers, Career Development Group (CDG) with an offer of free training for local people last week and after having spoken to a couple of other providers, including the Workshop, we agreed to fund the event and provide the promotional material. This was all agreed on Tues evening 19th Jan and we had the leaflets for the event being distributed by the Friday 22nd due to the co-operation of everybody including printers and distributors, ready for the event on Thursday.’
The three training organisations showcased their training offers to residents within the St Ann’s area of Tottenham for 3 hours after the intense promotional campaign orchestrated by the NDC.
Qualifications on offer included various NVQ’s, CCTV and Security Training, help with job finding and the Stitch in Time project. The actual event attracted 52 people in the three hours, and Director of Fashion Enter, Jenny Holloway, personally interviewed people interested in the project and made appointments for 4 prospective students.
