Kingston College is a major provider for further, higher and adult education in Kingston upon Thames. Situated in a thriving town centre, the College offers both academic and vocational courses from Levels 1 to 6 and provides students with a friendly, stimulating environment for study. From over 9,000 current students more than 600 take up places at university each year. Fashion The Fashion provision at Kingston College's Anstee House has grown significantly in the last few years, leading to the launch of the BA in Fashion & Textiles in September 2008. This exciting new degree was a natural progression for the College, initiated by the success of the National Diploma in Fashion & Clothing. The new facilities at Anstee House provide a fully equipped printed textile studio and industrial knitting machines, allowing for the further development of textile design within the National Diploma and Degree programmes. The environment encourages an industrious and professional work ethic amongst the students, who also benefit from spacious pattern cutting and garment construction studios. Here they can realise the full potential of their designs using industrial machinery and modern cutting tables. The move to Anstee House will enable Kingston College to strengthen its reputation as leading providers of quality fashion and textile courses in the South East and look forward to the graduation of our first degree cohort in 2011. National Diploma in Fashion and Clothing The National Diploma in Fashion and Clothing is a two year full time course offering a wide range of learning in fashion design. Areas covered include fashion design, fashion prediction, pattern construction for fashion and clothing and other fashion industry-related units. The National Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels and students can progress on to various Degree courses including the College's new BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion and Textiles, or employment. The BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion and Textiles, validated by Thames Valley University, is a 3 year full time course. Modules studied include: Year 1: Visual communication, design exploration and realisation, textiles including knit and print, cloth, chronology and culture Year 2: Fashion design, textiles, knitwear or footwear design Year 3: Production of final major project, produce a portfolio of work or MA/Post Graduate Degree interview and take part in organising a Fashion Show at Kingston College.
