Thalia Conomos

Women in Work Participant January 2010

My name is Thalia Conomos. I have a Greek-Australian background and a great deal of my childhood was spent traveling. Because of this I have a large experience of getting along with people from different cultures and can easily adjust to any working environment. I completed a BA(Hons) in Fashion and Textiles in 2007 specialising in surface design and knitwear. I am enthusiastic about fashion and textiles and ambitious to test my ideas in the fashion industry.

Thus far I have worked with independent designers and sell highly embellished pieces at a market stall.  I take pleasure in applying novel techniques and in building on my understanding of the technical processes and procedures that lay behind my work.

Eclectic by nature, I have accumulated an extensive thesaurus of objects and images from very many places this inspires the work I create. I hope to have a small collection in a few boutiques with a range of knitwear and tailored garments for women.

Update:

Thalia is currently spending the week at the Workshop learning pattern construction and manipulation. She is also eager to attend the next Veti-Graph Cad/Cam program next month.
