Situated in a thriving town centre, Kingston College provides students with a friendly and stimulating environment for study. Over the past few years the range of courses on offer has broadened in order that the curriculum meets the ever changing needs of students and industry.



Offering both academic and vocational courses from Levels 1 to 6, over 11,000 students currently benefit from its professional approach to learning. Indeed, more than 500 students each year take up places at university.


What's on offer

Kingston College courses cover a spectrum of levels with content aimed at 16 to 19, 16 to 24 year olds, adult education, higher education, short courses and study for international students.


For 16 to 19 years olds there is the traditional route of GCSE and A Level study. To complement this, Kingston College offers Introductory Diplomas, First Diplomas and National Diplomas to name but a few, with a wide variety of subject areas such as Art and Design, Business, ICT, Early Years, Engineering, Health and Social Care, Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and the Performing Arts.


The College runs a popular and varied adult education syllabus that offers opportunities for adults returning to study or work or for those wanting to gain qualifications to enhance career prospects/ career change.


Where English is not their first language, Kingston College offers students English as a Foreign/ Second Language (EFL/ESL) courses from elementary to advanced levels. A further adult education programme is on offer, run through a recently developed partnership with Chessington Community College. Short course areas include Computing and IT, Early Years, Hairdressing, Health and Social Care, and Science.


The number of higher education courses available is rapidly expanding, with over 30 courses currently available. Courses include Higher National Certificates and Diplomas, Foundation Degrees as well as BA (Honours). Areas of study include Art and Design, Business and Finance, Complementary Therapies, Computing and IT, Early Years, Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, Management and Marketing, Performing Arts, Science, Sport and Teaching.

 

Facilities

Kingston College's Theatre (ACT) has been designed to meet the College's own specifications and has created a flexible performance area. Capable of holding audiences of over 300, the Theatre has become the venue for a huge variety of exciting performance work. As well as a centre for creative work inside the College, the Theatre plays host to the work of outside companies.


The College's music facility incorporates four recording studios utilising the latest digital and analogue technology. They have been designed to give students the opportunity to create industry-standard work that reflects the up-to-date knowledge they have gained on their courses. There are two band studios and two project rooms. All the rooms are sound proofed and air-conditioned, and incorporate equipment by the most reputable industry manufacturers.


Arena Sports is the centre of the College's Sports and Leisure Studies Faculty comprising a sports hall with seating for 500, a 60 station health and fitness suite and a dance and exercise studio. Alongside this, Arena Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy is a unique centre benefiting students, employers and clients alike. This specialist facility for hairdressing, complementary therapy and beauty therapy training provides a professional environment for student assessment and a centre for continuing professional development.


Kingston College's Learning Resource Centre (LRC) provides specialist books and computer packages for careers. Practical help and advice is provided by college advisers for the 16 to 19-year-old student. External advisers from CONNEXIONS attend tutorials and can be seen by appointment.

The College's Information, Advice and Guidance Service is for adults over 19 years of age and meets the needs of both students and the wide community. It is committed to assisting adults meet their full potential, develop skills, search for and progress in employment as well as building confidence.
