Caroline Charles : LFW Sept 2009

NEWSFLASH ......... Caroline Charles launches first online shop!

London Fashion Week SS10 has officially begun, and who better to help start the show than Caroline Charles.

The show not only focused on showcasing the new SS10 collection, but also took the audience on a holidaying journey to Rio. The show was marvelously upbeat, colorful and most importantly fun. The catwalk models were strutting up the runway to upbeat roaring rumba rhythms, all of which helped showcase the fabulous spring/summer 2010 collection and portray the main mood of the show  ‘Optimism for the new decade'. This was undoubtedly achieved in abundance.

Caroline very cleverly created 5 fantastic mini journeys within the whole show, to highlight just how perfectly versatile her SS10 collection is.

The journey began on a slow Cruise to Rio, showcasing  a range of 50s style coats, woven patch works , Flirty summery shorts perfect for occasions and sizzling polka dot bikinis, cropped tailored trousers . All models were flawlessly accessorised with backcombed hair, head scarves and typical 5o's inspired heart shaped glasses.

A tip for SS10 if its not 50's inspired its not cool!

The next route took us safely to the resort :

These items offered further diversity in color and provided us with even more design choices, An interesting factor with Caroline Charles's designs is that she very cleverly injects  the right amount color into her collection without it appearing too youthful or classless.  The exotic silk prints, rich blends of blues, greens, oranges and range of tunics and playsuits is bang on trend for SS10 yet still stylishly unique.

Caroline clearly has designed a collection which caters for all events and individuals her designs are effortless and chic.

Regatta, aka Boat racing was the next mini journey we were taken on, off course it was very nautical, but feminine was key. The models showcased lots of navy blues and whites and cotton shirts, stripes gingham, and the iconic collerless coats were key to finishing the look..

Carolines designs were truly stimulating but just as you got the feeling of seeing it all the colors became neutral for the ‘Rancho' inspired set. This part of the collection unveiled warm earth like tones such as, ochre, stone and olive.  The clean cut ‘'cruise' style garments had now been injected with more unique design and a few more funky varieties appeared such as light lace dresses, animal print,   and the all so trendy harem trousers were adapted ever so slightly to provide a more fitting version.

The best was certainly saved for last when the mesmerising ‘White Night' inspired evening pieces were revealed. Antique whites and vintage Ivory colors were used to create the glamorous angelic feel that left the audience lost for words.  Corsets, dresses, blouses, jackets were all embellished with either lace, net, beads and sequins to add to almost fairytale inspired theme.

The accessories where a perfect match to the eveningwear, as the ivory flower pieces placed in the models hair  and lace gloves , leggings and the ivory umbrellas partnered together to create a perfect SS10 feminine ensemble. The images speak for themselves as the designs are flawless.

Caroline Charles was a beautiful start to London Fashion Week and many great names such as Joan Collin, Boris Johnson, Harold Hilman were all present to celebrate LFW's 25th anniversary and to support Caroline Charles SS10 collection.
