Carlotta Gherzi : LFW Sept 09


 

Anticipating that the Carlotta Gherzi was going to be a beyond spectacular affair, I managed to nab a front row seat and a goody bag.
There I was with a prime spot, and when the show began I had a great view of the models and the fabulous clothes.

Mostly featuring a pattern in mother earth shades, dresses, jumpsuits and swimsuits waltzed down the catwalk oozing confidence and freshness. The angel sleeves and high necks made these outfits so flattering, and the open backs with delicate detail added a feminine and sexy tone to the collection.

Inspired by the Italian Riviera, I also could imagine stepping off a yacht in Portofino in the one-shouldered ivory dress with the ruffles down the front, clutching the sage green leather handbag. Of course I would need the shoes to match, and there they were available in the green, with gold straps across the front making my heart beat faster.

This sage green appeared throughout the collection and was gorgeous nonetheless, as it teamed up with ivory and silk to make a stunning floor length dress. Slashed at the neck the top half was ivory - smooth and creamy, then blending into the green from the waist downwards. The dress was backless apart from a small band of material running across, which gave the dress shape and posture.
 
Gherzi didn't just opt for neutral colours through the collection, as we all gasped for breath when the bright scarlet ball gown appeared. Feeling like I was re-living the scene from Pretty Woman the dress was timeless, but featured Gherzi's trademark ruffles and tender details to provide a climax to the show.

Then it was off to the party to sip gin and tonics with the other fashionistas. Grabbing Carlotta herself for a chat and a photo I mentioned my love of the ivory and sage dress. Unfortunately, this isn't Sex and the City and Carrie Bradshaw I am not, so I am not expecting anything in the post anytime soon.
