A true gem

Describing what one could only say was full of funk, everything from the colour to the music was electrifying at Ashley Ishams latest collection.

Blaring from the speakers was a mix of drums and harps, as the Middle Eastern themed show kicked off with a gallery of colourful dresses. Ranging from the royal favourite purple to an acid pink, both long and short dresses were awe-inspiring for the lustful crowds that awaited them.

In fact, the mini dress got a unique makeover, and to be sure, next summer we should all be wear the short turquoise dress, with contrasting black ruffles down the breast. Almost backless and sleek, the dress had a great neckline that was flattering and eye-catching. This dress will look fabulous either at a garden party or a summer ball, as the colour is bold, sharp and daring. Perfect for the confident party girl who is looking for fun!

Let's not forget the jewels that complimented all the outfits - either in the models hair or on the dresses themselves. Draped over the sleeve of a long purple dress, it was as if Aladdins Cave had come to town as everything from rubies to emeralds were featured on this gown. We are all in for a treat next season as with all these precious gems we really will feel like a princess.

Speaking of Princesses, we will all look like Xena or Cleopatra in the shoes, as the bronze sandals with the coin tassels only prove that Isham does drapes and layers better than any other designer. Classic with tiny straps and a big heel, the bronze shoes allow the dresses to dominate, but look fabulous nonetheless. And as we all race for the boutique with our credit cards, lets hope we have enough energy and youth as the dress we are wearing.
