Welcome to this week’s Art SPY.  When it comes to choosing art for your home or just adding to your collections if you are an art collector it is always an exciting process selecting what next to buy.

This week Art SPY previews two artists each totally different form each other having distinct styles.

Artist: Theo Booth

The first artist is Theo Booth. Theo’s background is in engineering and through this you can see the strong use of lines and boldness within the drawings.

I really love the work of this artist!  It’s exciting to look at and intriguing. It’s interesting to see the way in which he has painted the women – they are not stick thin but have a lovely form about them. I like the way in which background objects merge with the bodies and become transparent. There is a complete contrast between round and square yet are brought together perfectly. The artist has cleverly combined the two forms linking in some respects to Picasso’s cubism work. All in all they are fun and lovely to look at.

Theo's background is in engineering, boat restoration and photography which has provided him with an excellent foundation for what is now his first love, that of painting. Using mainly acrylic on board he portrays the characters in the paintings very solidly with a strong and definite use of line and intense block colour that take their initial inspiration from Theo's observations of the way in which people interact with each other and behave.


Having taken up painting initially as a hobby and completely from scratch, Theo now paints full time and has exhibited with much success here in Bath. Artists who Theo has...
