Stress at the Workplace
A year of economic turmoil and financial instability, people have been struggling to stay sane at the workplace. Stress is an uncomfortable, unfortunate but definite part of any job be it managerial pressures, social responsibility or keeping up with the job role at hand.

Statistics show in 2008/09 an estimated 415 000 individuals in Britain, who worked in the last year, believed that they were experiencing work-related stress at a level that was making them ill (prevalence), according to the Labour Force Survey.
Estimates from the LFS indicate that self-reported work-related stress, depression or anxiety accounted for an estimated 11.4 million lost working days in Britain in 2008/09. This number is shocking and something needs to be done to change for the better. Stress should not overtake the progression of a workforce. Employers have duties under the Management of Health and Safety at Work regulations 1999: To assess the risk of stress-related ill health arising from work activities; and under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974: To take measures to control that risk. As an employer, it is necessary to monitor their employees overall well-being and actively improve its working conditions however possible to ensure productivity.
