BBQ Fashion – The Rules

 

We are heading towards BBQ season, so it shouldn't surprise you that over the past few years, this much loved summer pastime has evolved.  BBQs are no longer the male safe haven they used to be.  Ever since we ladies got in on the act, things have changed.  Meat has become marinated, sauce is no longer restricted to just tomato or barbeque, and there are green things called salad........I kid you not!!!

That’s not all that has changed. BBQs have become the perfect venue for meeting a future partner, not to mention painful set-ups. All of a sudden, we have to put thought into what we’re wearing. Now, you can still wear your usual get up, but you’re going to need to make sure it’s clean and current. Remember, going casual isn’t an invitation to look like you just rolled out of bed......even if you did!!!

 
 

If you’re still not sure, use my BBQ fashion rules as a guide:

Keep it simple

BBQs are all about laid-back summer days, so don’t over complicate things. Stick to the basic combinations of men’s shorts and T-shirts. If you really want to layer, add a vest over the top. Just remember to roll up the sleeves if they’re long and leave it unbuttoned.

Go for darker colours

I’ve got three words for you: tomato sauce stains. If you’ve got a habit of dropping the contents of your burnt burger all over yourself, then don’t risk it. Wear darker clothes to hide your mishaps and everything will be fine.  Also, you may want to learn how to eat properly...........just a suggestion!!

Don’t be afraid to accessorise

 
 

How many times have you been at a BBQ and no one has a bottle opener? I guarantee that on any given day, at any given BBQ there will be a lady in distress who has brought beverages that she thought were screw-top. Accessorise with a bottle opener and you could be someone’s knight with shining utensils.

Don’t even think about it. It’s a huge, No, No, No, No, No, No.........No........I'm a little on the fence with this one!!

Don't OD on the labels

Don’t play the name game and don’t be a walking advertisement for your favourite brand. Always want to err on the side of being understated. Wear an item because its’ got a rock solid design, great fit and you feel good in it.

You must wear sunglasses

Even if it's cloudy you can man a grill with ease when the breeze isn't blowing smoke up your eye sockets.  Also, girls think fellas in sun glasses are at least 15% cuter......FACT!!!
